Instagram Reel Bonus Program

I tried a reel bonus program on Instagram. I am no expert on creating reels, but I wanted to give it a try because it sounded like a fun way to possibly earn a little bit of extra money.

Screenshot of my Insta with all my new reels. The gnome video was one I uploaded that must have made me eligible for the program in the first place.

I have no idea how the program is going to turn out, but I had a lot of fun doing it. My biggest issue with the program as it stands is that I was unable to adjust which reels I used for the program after they were already uploaded.

For example I submitted a reel that I had finished creating on TikTok and it wouldn’t let me use that reel for bonuses because it had a watermark. I was unable to remove that reel from the bonus program and add 1 of the other reels I created.

The other issue I had was sort of along the same lines. I created the reel and submitted it, and then noticed there was a problem with it and part of the reel had been cut off. So I deleted that reel and re-uploaded it. The bonus program unfortunately counted the deleted reel as one of my 5 reels I was eligible to submit.

So now I have 3 reels of 5 that are eligible for the reel bonus program payout. I even uploaded another reel today to see if putting a new reel on my profile would give me new options for changing the reels submitted to the bonus program. I did search my Instagram account options but uploading a new reel didn’t give me any new options for changing what was already automatically submitted.

I can’t imagine I will make very much participating in this program as it stands. However I did share the reels I created to more than just my Instagram account. I found that sharing reels did increase my profile views on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. On Facebook it said my views increased over 8000%! Granted my views were obviously not great.

The bonus program did encourage me to get creative. I had a good time trying to figure out how to make fun reels without taking all day at it. If there is anything I would suggest to someone participating in a reel bonus program it would to avoid water marks (like the ones automatically included when you upload & save your video from tiktok), review your reel carefully before submitting it, and upload it directly and don’t share it from another platform.

I believe trying to share my reel directly from tiktok is what cut that one reel short. Then when I uploaded it directly it had the tiktok watermark and made it ineligible anyway. So I lost 2 slots in the bonus program to that one reel! I did say I wasn’t an expert. Hopefully my mistakes can help you succeed!

It doesn’t show views from this page, but it does tell me my tiktok watermarked video isn’t eligible. The $50 it shows is definitely not a guaranteed payment, but I can hope.

Oh I just had one last thought. Read the fine print because you may earn $50 but you can’t cash out on Instagram until you earn over $100. This is definitely worth noting as I may not be eligible for other bonus programs as I bungled 2 of my submissions and may not get great views. Honestly views are hit and miss at the best of times, so consider wisely if this program is worth it to you even if you never get paid for the reels you create for it.

Best of luck to you, and thanks for reading with me today!

    1. Yes, something unexpected always happens. I do like doing reels, so it wasn’t completely out of my comfort zone, but I feel sort of let down by the lack of being able to fix my mistakes. Oh well, if I can help others it feels more worthwhile. Thanks, I hope you have a great day too!
