The speed of life has been kicking my tail recently, and I was in serious need of a little downtime. So this is my relaxing Thanksgiving vacation activity. I have also been playing Wii Sports and Wii Fit with the kids, which are still my favorite games on the Wii.
I bought my Yoga & Psyche book in 2021 with the intent to read it, but it got tucked away in a box. That was until I was hardcore cleaning because we were hosting Thansgiving, and I found it!
Since I did so much cleaning and downsizing the past few months, I am rewarding myself with a few days of much needed rest and bare minimum household upkeep.
I think this is the 1st paper book I’ve read in about a year, and I am enjoying the challenge. It’s written by a PhD & MFT, and some of the concepts are completely new to me.
It’s definitely a good read about combining the best of old wisdom and new science together to gain a healthy mindset and the best possible experience in our own personal worlds, and with each other.
The yoga emphasis in this book is more on the mental yogic principles than on the physical asanas, as they can be used as a distraction from some of the harder aspects of healing the mind, but a gentle motion practice thoughtfully done with a modern therapy element is often an amazing way to navigate out of places and bad experiences that seem to have an unbreakable hold.
Anyway, if you like reading about brain science, psychology, mindset, and yogic philosophy, this book is a place where all those things meet and meld.
