Happy 100th Day of School! Was yours today, recently, or soon?
Today, I am sharing some of the projects I did this week. My niece’s pants have been on the to-do list for a few weeks, unfortunately. I was feeling pressure because I didn’t want her to outgrow them before I got them done! I’m not wonderful with serger settings, though.
I set up the machine to run these through last week, and at the last minute, a thread broke. I didn’t have the time or mental energy to work through it right then, so I put it on hold.
Funny enough, today, I looked at it and realized I just had to re-thread that one needle, and it was good to go. I spent more time trying to make where I drove on and off the fabric look better.

I did have to go back and serge another section again because the fabric slid apart for me, just as it had at the clothing manufacturer. You wouldn’t think sweatsuit material would shift that much, but it was a little tricky. It’s done now, though! Hopefully, her #Bluey pants will be sturdy enough to stand up to 3 year old adventures!
The 100 Days shirt was a last minute project. They changed gears at my youngest’s school. They sent out a notice 2 days before, but I hadn’t see it till the next morning.
We were scrambling to complete it, and my daughter had a billion plans she wanted to fit into an under 2 hour window.
I did use the Cricut to cut cardstock to make a stencil for our fabric dye spray. I should have used sticker paper, but I was in a rush and using the supplies on hand. When I used the spray, a few of the stencil pieces blew off and smudged the design, but she didn’t seem to be bothered.
We used the Procreate drawing program for her to draw a smiley face, and then I just copied, flipped, and distorted it a little for 2 more similar but different looking smiley faces.
I wanted her involved and invested in the main design, and this helped her to let go of the 17 other plans she had going in her creative brain. I did not have time for butterflies, unicorns, kitties, and everything else, but hearing her creativity take off was super fun.
We negotiated successfully after a few minutes of discussion, and this was the reward. She was super excited to wear her personalized tee!

What fun or functional project are you working on this week?
